Blue Bird Unveils New Multipurpose Coach

FORT VALLEY, GA., February 19, 2003 – Blue Bird introduces the new Express 4500 multipurpose coach. The Express 4500 offers reliability, versatility, a large seating capacity and premium components, making it an optimal choice for contractors, universities and day charters.

All 45 feet of the Express 4500 are 12-year Altoona designed and crafted with the finest industry standards and feature a distinctly European look. The Express 4500 has a new integrated body and chassis encompassed with all stainless steel construction, and comfortably seats up to 55 passengers. The coach is powered by a premium Caterpillar C-12 410 hp diesel engine and is cooled by a Carrier A/C 353 roof-mounted air conditioner with 05G compressor system.

Passengers will enjoy a smooth ride thanks to the Express 4500 Meritor custom designed independent front suspension and air disc brakes. Full-height solid, insulated glass Excel windows offer a larger view, and American Seating highback recliners provide optimum passenger comfort. Full air ride suspension provides increased stability, while extra large windows offer the driver an added safety benefit and allow for easy navigation. Servicing the coach is also trouble-free with a standard 24V I/O Controls multiplex electrical wiring system, as well as a convenient, slide-out spare tire mounted behind the front bumper. A pantographing door to the engine compartment also puts important functions right at the service manager's fingertips.
