Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue addresses Blue Bird employees at its corporate headquarters in Fort Valley, Ga.

FORT VALLEY, GA., May 12, 2003 Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue made his first visit to Blue Bird corporate headquarters, Monday, May 12. The Governor was in Fort Valley for a prayer breakfast and the groundbreaking of a local Boys & Girls Club. Blue Bird has been awarded a $2.5 million grant for a proposed expansion. The money is part of a total package of $17 million in incentives the state has offered the company, which makes buses and motor homes, to expand its facility and add 630 jobs. The $2.5 million award comes from the Economic Development Growth and Enterprise fund. The fund, administered by the OneGeorgia Authority, is designed to give financial assistance for expansion projects.
