CAT/EPA/Blue Bird Event
On Monday, July 28th, Blue Bird and Caterpillar hosted representatives from the EPA at Blue Bird's Fort Valley facility. The EPA commended Blue Bird and CAT for their efforts in the Clean School Bus USA campaign. Blue Bird's all new Vision bus features CAT's environmentally friendly C7 engine with ACERT™ technology.
Among attendees were Jeff Holmstead, EPA's Assistant Administrator for Air and Radiation, and Glenn Barton, Caterpillar Chairman and CEO. Below is an excerpt from Barton's weekly message posted on CAT's employee web site.
On Monday, July 28, I had the pleasure of co-hosting an event with Blue Bird President & CEO Jeffry Bust in Fort Valley, Georgia. Together, we unveiled Blue Bird's new "Vision" school bus powered by Caterpillar's C-7 engine equipped with ACERT technology. This bus truly sets the standard in today's industry, and I'm especially pleased that Caterpillar has been able to contribute to this important product development.
ACERT is the result of significant investment, our willingness as a company to take bold steps to ensure that the fulfillment of customers' expectations stands side by side with satisfying environmental regulations and, most importantly, the dedication of many Caterpillar employees. We are dedicated to working with Blue Bird to continue to develop and apply the kind of industry-leading technology necessary to meet future demands. That's the real pleasure in working with a customer like Blue Bird which, like Cat, has built its reputation on a tradition of innovation and customer service of offering nothing but the best in terms of design and manufacturing and of quality and safety as well.
Nothing but the best is actually the very least that we owe to future generations personified today by every school-aged child who boards a Blue Bird bus to ride to school each day. Those children are the future and together, Blue Bird and Caterpillar have made a commitment to improving the environment and creating sustainable solutions that will improve the quality of life for this and subsequent generations.
The benefits to us are clear: they allow not only Caterpillar but also customers such as Blue Bird to satisfy our mutual commitment to providing the best value while at the same time encouraging social responsibility. Together, we not only envision a better world we also take steps to make a positive contribution to it.
This event further solidifies CAT's strong commitment to this partnership. We look forward to providing our customers with the best in product offerings.
Founded in 1927, Blue Bird has nearly 3,000 employees and four plants in two countries. Blue Bird has an extensive network of distributors and service parts facilities throughout North America.
