City of Holland, Michigan Expands Fleet with Three Additional Blue Birds

FORT VALLEY, GA (October 14, 2005) - The city of Holland, Michigan, which is served by the Macatawa Area Express, has taken delivery of three new 30' Blue Bird Ultra LF low floor buses. All aspects of the sale were handled by Holland Bus Company in Holland , Michigan .

With this latest delivery, 22 of the 26 vehicles in the Macatawa fleet are now Blue Bird transit buses. “We started doing business with Blue Bird in 1999 and the results have been nothing less than outstanding,” said Linda LeFebre, Macatawa Coordinator, City of Holland . “When we chose to expand our fleet with low-floor models, the Ultra LF was the obvious choice.” LeFebre noted that Macatawa plans to replace all its buses with low-floor models over the next several years.

The Ultra LF is a heavy-duty transit low floor vehicle that delivers strength and durability while providing significant cost savings in fuel and maintenance. In its kneeled position, the Ultra LF has a 10” floor height at its front entrance door and boasts a 102” width. Key features of the Macatawa 26-passenger, low-floor Ultras include a 230 HP Cummins ISB engine, Allison B-300 transmission, front & rear air suspension, roof-mounted Thermo King climate control system, ADA accessibility and wheelchair positions with Q-straint Slide & Click securement systems.
