FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY PURCHASES BLUE BIRD EXPRESS COACH

FORT VALLEY, GA (June 9, 2006) -Fort Valley State University (FVSU) located in Fort Valley, Georgia, has taken delivery of a Blue Bird Coachworks’ Express 4500 Coach. The delivery increases the University’s bus fleet to eleven, ten of which are Blue Bird buses.

This 45-foot, 53-passenger coach features a Caterpillar C-13, 410-hp engine, Meritor independent front suspension, Allison B-500 transmission and a Thermo King roof-mounted climate control system. Passenger comfort amenities include high-back recliner seats with retractable footrest, window shades and laptop computer outlets for up to ten connections. Key luxury features include five video monitors for viewing DVDs and VCR tapes and a premium stereo system with a 10-disc CD changer.

“FVSU is extremely excited about this most recent purchase from Blue Bird,” said Robert Brown, FVSU’s director of auxiliary services. “As a local manufacturer, Blue Bird has partnered with FVSU’s student internship program and community development services, so we have both a community and customer relationship with the company.” Brown added that the Express coach will provide transportation for university activities including athletics, band, faculty retreats, field trips and on-campus shuttle services during special events.

The Blue Bird Express coach is available in 40- and 45-foot lengths and provides all stainless steel construction for corrosion-resistant life and meets Altoona testing for the 12-year, 500,000 mile category.
