Milpitas Unified School District received a $2.1 million grant from Bay Area Air Quality Management District to purchase (6) new Blue Bird Corporation electric All American and Micro Bird buses including the charging station infrastructure needed to power their fleet. Thanks to the funding, the district's out-of-pocket cost was only about $200,000.
MUSD is the first district to have electric-powered school buses in route within the San Francisco, California bay area. The inclusion of the electric school buses is tied to the district's mission statement to to be innovative trailblazers.
